Ceramic for Kids

Hand-building Techniques: "Slab Building", "Coiling" and "Modeling

"Students will move on to hand building, which is the art of crafting without the wheel. I’ll let their creativity and imagination soar. They will learn different techniques for shaping the clay, such as "pinching" and "coiling", along with how to use various tools to cut, scrape and mold the clay. Create ornaments, tiles, trays, sculptures, vases, cups, bowls, tumblers, menorahs, derides, or any object they inspired to form. They learn to relax when working with clay. Students are not given any projects, they are taught techniques so that they have a basic clay building foundation and are free to create whatever they want."
