Summer Art Camp:
June 16 -19, June 22 - 26, and June 29 to July 3, 2009

Designed for children aged 6-11 to stimulate creative expressions, the camp promotes the exploration of a range of artistic mediums, including: drawing, painting, printing, and collage over three week-long sessions.

First Session: Tuesday, June 16 to Friday, June 19: Drawing and Painting:
Through drawing and painting, campers will improve their powers of observation and expand their imagination. Working from still life, photographs, and their own ideas, students will develop their drawing and painting fundamentals including, line drawing, value, shape, pattern, texture, shading, perspective and color. Through artistic experimentation students will develop and learn to trust their imaginations and creative instincts. Fee: $190

Second Session, June 22 – 26 Printmaking:
kids will learn to create images using printmaking tools and processes thorough a variety of techniques such as intaglio, relief, monoprint, lithography, and screen-printing. Campers will develop a basic understanding of the printmaking equipment and create their own editions, using soft linoleum blocks and styrofoam blocks. Fee: $230

Third Session, June 29 – July 3: Arts of the World:
campers will explore art in various media from different cultures from around the world to learn traditions of ethnic groups and a better understanding of the world's many cultures. Fee: $230

Camp is limited to 16 kids per session. Advance registration is required. Campers will be provided with materials.

Each Friday, the session will close with an art exhibit.

Camp Hours: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Session I $190, Session II $230, Session III $230
Three-session special fee: $600.
Sibling’s fee: Session I $180, Session II $220, Session III $220. Three session special fee: $570.

Instruction will be provided in Spanish and English

Schedule

8:45–9:15 AM:     Drop-Off
9:15–10:00 AM:   Circle time, instructor explains activities of the day
10:00–11:45 PM: First Session
11:45–1:15 PM:   Lunch and recreation. Students go across the street to Kalorama Park for a                                game of soccer and recreation.
1:30–3:00 PM:     Second Session
3:00–3:15 PM:     Sign out and good bye

Drop off procedure
Camp begins at 9:00 AM and ends at 3:00 PM. You can drop off your child at 8:45. Please, park your car on Columbia Rd and walk your child through the alley and sign your child in.

Pick up procedure
Park your car and come into the Gallery to sign your child out. Please try to pick up your child on time.

Dress Code:
Some of the activities will be messy. Please make sure your children dress accordingly.
